  • I hate Fantastic Chef’s Unlimited Korean Barbecue!

    February 19, 2019 / 0 Comments

You read it right. I hate it. I hate that I made the right decision of taking my family to Malate to eat in here on a weekend because they are asking me to take them back. I hate that the restaurant is too far from home. I had to travel for hours only to experience their authentic Korean food. I hate that their meat tastes so good that it haunts me. I hate that its smell lingers on my shirt and my mind. I hate that it’s reasonably priced compared to other samgyupsal out there. It’s official: I have this love and hate relationship with Fantastic Chef’s unlimited Korean…

“Friday nights should be celebrated.” This is what I always tell myself on Friday nights since for me, it is a way of paying for the hard work I’ve had all through out the week. It is the time where I let go of all my stress, exhaustion and anxiety from my day job. I have various ways to celebrate my Friday nights. It’s either I hit the hay early for some good sleep or go out with friends and family to pig out (though it sounded more like I am stress eating). Most of the time, I choose the latter as I get to spend quality time over a …

Hello K-Kit: A New and Fun Way to Enjoy Korean Food at Home!

    January 16, 2021 / 0 Comments

My love for Korean food and culture grew even more especially during the lock down as I spent too much time watching Korean dramas and fangirling over K-Pop idols that I even wanted to try their food, too! I have always loved Korean barbecue but I wanted a whole new authentic Korean gastronomic experience. That’s when I learned about Hello K-Kit! About Hello K-Kit Hello K-Kit is the Korean management of Art in Island Museum’s way of introducing the Korean food and culture to everyone in a fun and trendy way. It is actually a Korean meal kit, a cooking kit or recipe box, that contains fresh ingredients, delicious seasoning…

  • Why Fantastic Baka should be your favorite Korean Restaurant

    October 26, 2018 / 0 Comments

Much about the Korean culture has made a lot of Filipinos go gaga – its boy and girl group of young and talented artists, their music, their heartfelt TV dramas, their delectable food and more. This also has made a lot fly to the country to experience these things first hand. Taking this fad as an opportunity, a lot of Korean restaurants rose in different corners of the Metro. Just then, the words ‘samgyupsal’, or “unlimited Korean barbecue” is never out of everyone’s discourse. It has also become a thing shared by friends and family over good stories and laughter. pick that pork up, dip it in, wrap it in…

What could appease a wandering soul who just came back to población, tired and famished from a journey through the scenic trail? I’d say it would be a heavenly plate of food. If you find yourself in such a situation in this cool, tranquil place in Mountain Province, here’s the list of the top places to eat in Sagada and the food that you shouldn’t miss in each. A Glance into Sagada’s Gastronomy On the Traditional Plate The Igorots (mountain dwellers) of the Cordilleras are largely carnivorous or meat lovers. My Mom’s First Hike and Camp at the Mountains

    January 3, 2021 / 2 Comments

Ever since I’ve started traveling, I’ve always thought of taking my mom with me. I want her to see and experience the greatest things that this world offers. While she still can, I want her senses to be enlivened by anything naturally splendid – be it an element of a city, the sea or the summit. On top of all these, I live for her unfading bright eyes and precious smiles upon experiencing new thrills and adventures that she has never seen nor done before. I love how full of life her voice becomes every time she vividly speaks of her emprise. With that, I would chase for trips where…

THE QUEEN’S ESCAPE

lady sipping juice from a paper cup

Hi! I am Queenie Anne Gumiran, the queen who escapes; a firm believer of the line, ‘we all deserve a little wanderlust‘. I started the Queen’s Escape travel blog to tell people a thousandfold stories about my motherland – that Philippines is more than just its pristine beaches and breathtaking summits. It aims to make the readers know about the best places to explore – both the world-renowned and the off the beaten path, how rich and diverse its culture is, how delectable the food is and more. More than these stories of wanders on a budget, The Queen’s Escape also tells stories of adventure on freediving and its advocacy, sustainable traveling.
