The Department of Tourism through the Tourism Promotions Board made local traveling even affordable during these times through their partnership with a few testing facility providers. This include the UP-PGH and the PCMC in Manila. They provide discounted rates for approved domestic travelers. The testing, however, is for application five days prior to your departure. To avail, you need to prepare the following requirements: Two (2) valid government-issued IDs, confirmed DOT-accredited hotel booking and roundtrip transportation tickets, if applicable (airline/bus/ferry tickets). These testing facilities can accommodate up to 100 clients a day.

The discounted rate is only available for domestic travel purposes. Hence, OFWs or Locally Stranded Individuals could not avail it. Foreigners can also avail as long as they reside in the Philippines and they can provide a proof of residency.

Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH)

The Philippine General Hospital offers RT-PCR test for only Php 1,800.00. However, if you are going to use it for local or domestic travel, you can avail it for only Php 900.00. You need to apply for a slot here: www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel/. You also need to submit other travel requirements during the application to be able to avail the discounted price. Make sure that you register first, accomplish the Client Investigation Form and attach the necessary requirements. They will notify you through your provided email if your application is approved. Take note that UP-PGH does not conduct RT-PCR testing on Sundays. Lastly, this subsidy program will end on June 30, 2021.

Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC)

Philippine Children’s Medical Center offers RT-PCR test for only Php 750.00 if you are going to use it for domestic travel. Regular price of the test is at Php3,577.00 especially for walk in clients. To avail the discounted price, you need to apply for a slot at www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel/ and follow the same steps as that of application in UP-PGH. Schedule for a test at PCMC especially if your departure date falls on a Tuesday since PGH does not offer testing on a Sunday. Prior to testing, make sure if your target destination requires a 48 or 72-hour valid test result.

National Kidney Transplant Institute (NKTI)

The National Kidney Transplant Institute offers RT-PCR tests for only Php 391.00 as of January 22, 2021. It is indeed the cheapest COVID-19 swab test in Manila so far. Before, it used to be at around Php 1,200.00. Take note that this rate is only available for Philhealth members with updated contribution for at least six months from the time of procedure. Qualified dependents of the member who’s 21 years old and below can also avail the discounted price. Non-Philhealth members can avail the test for Php 3,800.00. Take note that this is not and they do not offer Rapid Antigen Testing. Good news! You may actually use the test result for any purpose that it may serve; be it for job, travel or anything!

NKTI’s testing is available from Monday to Sunday between 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM only at the Executive Parking Area (near Main Building’s Entrance). Walk-ins are also welcome. They would release the results a day after the test. You can claim it from Monday to Saturday, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Sunday, 12:00 NN.
