  • Mt. Ulap, Itogon, Benguet 2023 Travel Guide

    May 26, 2020 / 2 Comments

Mt. Ulap is still CLOSED. Mt. Ulap is one of the recently known mountains in Benguet located in Itogon, to be particular. It has three peaks namely Ambanao-Paoay, Gungal and Mt. Ulap summit per say which is 1,846 meters above sea level (MASL). It has 3 out of 9 difficulty with 1 to 3 trail class making it a beginner-friendly mountain. Its features include grassland, pine ridges, scenic views of the Cordillera mountains and burial caves. However, these caves are out of the trail and only few had a chance to visit. Everywhere your eyes would lay upon is a sight of pieces of heaven, indeed! The view is just so breath taking most especially the…

  • Taal Volcano: A Trek to the Smallest Active Volcano in the Philippines

    October 8, 2018 / 0 Comments

Got a good wide snap of Taal Volcano’s crater with my Yi 4k+ action camera mounted on 1.2m monopod. I used to believe that the ‘Taal Volcano’ that I saw in Philippine post cards and textbooks when I was still in Primary school was the real Taal Volcano. Not until we moved to Tagaytay City and found out that my whole life was (partly) a lie. That seriously small volcano was not the Taal Volcano but it’s called ‘Binintiang Malaki’ which is only a caldera of the whole volcano. Taal Volcano is considered to be the smallest active one in the world. It is actually an island in a lake found…

  • A Travel Guide to Mt. Daraitan with Tinipak River Side Trip

    February 11, 2018 / 3 Comments

The province of Rizal is blessed to be surrounded with the mountainous terrain of Sierra Madre. Situated at Southern Luzon, part of Region IV-A CALABARZON, its geographical location has been quite an advantage to the travelers, mountaineers and recreational hikers most especially from the Metro since it is just an hour or two away from the city’s hustle; hence, making a surge of them pay the province’s wonders a visit on weekends. Among their favorite destinations are the summits in Montalban, Rodriguez, Tanay and others. One of the most note-worthy among these is located in Tanay – Mt. Daraitan. Mt. Daraitan has two jump off’s –…

  • Not just one, not even two, it’s many! Hooray, Mt. Marami!

    April 27, 2016 / 0 Comments

It’s been a while since the last time I have posted in my blog! In that span of time, I was able to pay a visit to beaches and summits! Now that it’s summer and most of you, guys, are making an effort to file a leave and make your weekends meaningful, let me share this summit adventure that we had 3 weeks ago to give you an idea about where to go next.      This year, I have tried something new. HIKING. I am from Cavite (Tagaytay to be particular) and there are too many mountains around (for real!). Everytime I go to a place or…

THE QUEEN’S ESCAPE

lady sipping juice from a paper cup

Hi! I am Queenie Anne Gumiran, the queen who escapes; a firm believer of the line, ‘we all deserve a little wanderlust‘. I started the Queen’s Escape travel blog to tell people a thousandfold stories about my motherland – that Philippines is more than just its pristine beaches and breathtaking summits. It aims to make the readers know about the best places to explore – both the world-renowned and the off the beaten path, how rich and diverse its culture is, how delectable the food is and more. More than these stories of wanders on a budget, The Queen’s Escape also tells stories of adventure on freediving and its advocacy, sustainable traveling.
